The Club Championship proved to be a real challenge this year with the wind blowing across the course and touch conditions for the players.
The event was over two rounds and was to be played off scratch as usual.
The players found it tough in the first round but Paul Houghton shot the best round he has ever had at Rivenhall, a 78 to lead after round one!
The Second round the players started off in strong winds and tough conditions, these conditions were unusual as we had had a long hot and dry spell leading up to this weekend. Peter Warren, Sam Calvert and Steve Bristow all needed a good score in the mid 70’s to put the pressure on Paul who lead by … after round one.
It proved to be impossible to catch Paul who scored 39 on the front 9 and went on to win the Club Championship with 78 & 84
A fabulous result for Paul.
